Marti Epstein – Hummingbirds
Performed by Jihye Chang, piano

Program Note by Marti Epstein

Hummingbirds was written with great love and respect for Jihye Chang. The piece explores a wide approach to the geography of the piano while requiring the performer to play with extreme delicacy. Her fingers need to be light and extremely fast, just like hummingbirds! Jihye's advocacy for living composers is awe-inspiring, and I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart!
