RENEWAL - October 2019
In October of 2019, Intersection presented RENEWAL - a musical program featuring Intersection instrumentalists, Portara, percussionists Lee Vinson and Ji Hye Jung along with Sandbox Percussionists Terry Sweeney and Jonny Allen, conducted by Kelly Corcoran. Sarah Kirkland Snider's "Mass for the Endangered" is about the need to preserve our planet and Viet Cuong's "Renewal" is inspired by alternative energy sources such as wind and solar power. Snider's work is for chorus and instrumental ensemble and featured Portara. Cuong's piece is for 4 percussion soloists and instrumental ensemble and showcases a variety of sounds, instruments and colors. Both works emphasize the value of nature and our planet and we hope to shed light on the beauty, fragility and resilience of our planet through this performance and our partnerships. Composer Viet Cuong was in attendance at the concert.
